By their very nature events create waste. It is therefore our duty and responsibility to offset the impact of these important but ephemeral meetings as much as possible.
This is why SQUARE is committed to operating sustainably, in fact our engagement goes beyond reducing our impact on the environment; we have adopted best practices to manage both our social and environmental impact at all stages of our supply chain. These best practices are closely monitored because they form an integral part of our corporate and social responsibility. As a result, the Brussels environment agency awarded SQUARE with the first star of the Ecodynamic label, an industry standard for sustainable events management.

More precisely, we continuously strive to improve our performance in the following sectors: Energy reduction • Use smart energy to optimise consumption • Use green electricity from sustainable sources • Invest in our infrastructure to operate a smart building • Reduce digital energy consumption Waste management • Reduce waste in all areas of operation • Optimise waste management • Aim for a zero plastic single-usage and waste • Recycle all waste that is either biodegradable, compostable or recyclable • Reduce food waste Reduction of water consumption • Invest in our infrastructure and equipment in order to reduce water consumption • Reduce our carbon footprint • Use electrical vehicles in our transport fleet and loading bay • Recharging stations made available for electric vehicles • Use electric bicycles both on-site and to visit the city • Food and beverage management • Avoid waste of food and beverage • Work with eco-responsible caterers who use seasonal produce • Contribute to preserve biodiversity • Use of ecological cleaning products, avoiding chemicals wherever possible • Limit the amount of cleaning products and water used, according to the frequency of use of the rooms • Installed beehives on the roof • Societal contribution and community involvement • Mural created for local street artists • Support creative projects • Mirror wall for hip hop dancers • Supply of water for washing machines for homeless people; “Bubble” project • Fundraising for special causes • Collecting caps for recycling and contribute to the purchase of wheelchairs • Job creation, integration and training of low-skilled people
